Slander is spoken, libel is written.  In accordance with the law, "truth is an absolute defense".  In other words, if the information is true, it is neither slander nor libel and is completely legal and unactionable.  Furthermore, repeating truths is not defamation.  You'd also expect that a self-proclaimed "paralegal" and her "lawyer" would understand that to sue a reporting party for libel or slander, you have to enjoin the cited source parties, not just the messenger.  This is particularly true when the messenger has taken steps to ensure the information is reliable.

No one needs to make up anything; Candi does plenty of fabricating all on her own.  It is sufficient to expose her conflicting claims and let the readers make an informed decision for themselves.  Every item posted here is 100% true and verifiable through the independent, third-party links provided on this site and most of the information came from Candi's own words.  Someone who claims, "you can't deal with many more legal documents than I did as a paralegal for 4 lawyers for almost 2 years" should understand these simple concepts (more on that below).  Hmmm.  Apparently Candi has some trouble grasping these ideas.

At one point she was working out of Twin Willows Equestrian Center near Deer Park as a "natural horsemanship" trainer and instructor. The latest reports claim she may be working out of Lady Raven Stables. She also goes by "Stateside Stables" or "Stateside Stables, Training, and Tack" or some machination thereof.

Before leaving Alaska, Mrs. Anderson-Kachnik tried to sue Mrs. Heather Fair for slander, apparently blaming her for all her problems with her business (Horsin' Around Alaska) and personal life.  Mrs. Fair is merely a concerned citizen.  She is not a parent, she is not a horse trainer, she is not a lessons instructor, she does not breed nor sell nor board horses.  She has never operated a feed and tack business.  She has never competed with Mrs. Anderson-Kachnik or her business in any way.  Yet according to Mrs. Anderson-Kachnik's attorney, Candi claims Mrs. Fair "ran her out of the state."  It is unfortunate that Mrs. Anderson-Kachnik was unwilling to accept responsibility for her own actions and instead blame others for her resulting misfortune. So why sue Mrs. Fair? Candi was apparently trying to scare Mrs. Fair in hopes that Mrs. Fair would quietly let Candi continue with her shameful ways. Candi also apparently thought Mrs. Fair had deep pockets worth digging into, as Candi did not attempt to sue any other party, not even those that told their own stories on this very website or those that may have clearly slandered or libeled her over the years (this turned out to be a major problem for Mrs. Kachik's frivolous case against Mrs. Fair).

Unfortunately for Mrs. Anderson-Kachnik, she needed a little education.  As a result, Candi did not have a case as Mrs. Fair never slandered her.  After wasting much time, effort, and money of both parties and the Alaska Superior Court System, Mrs. Anderson-Kachnik was forced to dismiss the case rather than provide discovery so that Mrs. Fair could defend against Mrs. Anderson-Kachnik's vague claims.  In an effort to expose the truths about this individual, Mrs. Fair was very willing to keep the case moving forward.  However, due to her failing health and the strain that has imposed on her family's finances, Mrs. Fair graciously considered allowing Candi to drop the case,  and any counterclaims if Candi would only compensate Mrs. Fair a mere $1,000 for some of her attorney's fees resulting from this frivolous case.  Mrs. Kachnik failed to respond and in April 2007, Mrs. Fair and Mrs. Anderson-Kachnik's attorney attended a scheduled trial date.  Judge Beverly Cutler asked that the case be dropped for failure to prepare (despite Mrs. Fair's repeated requests for discovery from Mrs. Anderson-Kachnik).  After a few moments of discussion with her husband, Mrs. Fair agreed to let Candi drop the case in open court.  The case was dismissed, with prejudice.  Mrs. Fair is currently evaluating whether or not she should pursue legitimate claims against Mrs. Kachnik for slander and libel and other issues, which amounted to real losses exceeding many tens of thousands of dollars. This case is public knowledge and interested parties are encouraged to read the file at the Palmer Court House. Please note the vagueness of the original claim and the strange lack of filings on the part of the plaintiff (Candida Barbara Anderson-Kachnik, filed as "Candi Anderson").

But maybe Candi simply didn't understand that stealing someone else's work and presenting it as your own is illegal.  And maybe she just didn't know that it is illegal to operate a business in Alaska without a valid license (her license lapsed for over a year beginning January 2003, just ask the Alaska Division of Corporations and Licensing).  Of course, according to the Division, her "lawyer" may need some schooling on that point too.  And perhaps Candi honestly didn't understand the laws against cruelty to animals/animal neglect?  In addition to AER's Chico, Heather Pelletier of Palmer, Alaska has shared information about her experiences rescuing Peanut from Candi and Kristina Webber of PartnerNCrime Enterprises has reported her experiences boarding her horse, Partner, at Candi's facility.  Of course we all know the saying "ignorance of the law is no excuse!"  But even if she didn't understand the law, one of the most liberal on this subject in the US, does she really need a law to tell her not to do such things?

All this trouble interpreting the law might explain why she is no longer a paralegal.  But wait!  was she ever a paralegal?  She claims she was but according to this site, she "worked as a secretary at Swalling Construction Co. and as a legal secretary for the Law Offices of W. David Weed."  There's a big difference between "secretary" in a legal office and "paralegal".  Is this yet another exaggeration, Candi?

What about the other lies, Candi?  Are you *really* a champion reiner and barrel racer as you tell your friends in the northwest US?  Still haven't found anyone that has ever seen you show since you outgrew 4H as a participant.  In fact, the showing entities that keep track of such things (including awards, participation, and membership) could not find any record of you having been a member or exhibitor in any of their events going back decades, let alone winning anything. And what do you think Nan or the more recent owners of that indoor arena would think of your claims to have owned the facility next door to your former Butte, Alaska home/business?

Are you *really* "IDEA & Cyberlynx approved" for home school credit?  Although you claim to be, Cyberlynx said they have never even heard of you and IDEA said you are not "approved" for their program in the sense you use to mislead your potential clients (only that you may have received payment for horsebackriding lessons given to a homeschooled child).

Do your clients know that when they advertise on your site you'll soon claim to own their horses (Michelle Myer's & John Frey's studs, for example)?  Were you partnered with John Frey for a business venture beyond standing his stud? When Jessica Dryden sued you and won, the court documents included letters from Ms. Dryden to you and Mr. Frey (he was with you on that trip to buy horses and bring back Ms. Dryden's NEW trailer, which arrived in VERY bad condition). Those documents suggested some sort of appearance of partnership between you and Mr. Frey. Is that why he changed jobs out of Mat-Su Animal Care & Regulation-because of your repeated claims that your "friends at Animal Control" protect you?

Do your clients know that you are so hard-up for decent word-of-mouth that you create aliases and post false recommendations for your own business as a non-existent third party (and then delete the posts when you are caught red-handed with your static/dedicated IP all over the posts)?  Do they know that when the consign tack with you they may have to spend weeks chasing you for payment when they discover their items are no longer in your store?  Do your advertisers and the people that bought HorsinAroundAlaska.com know that your claim of "2,000 hits per month" on your website is exaggerated by your own refreshes and edits?  You do know that when you're luring advertisers that care about unique traffic, you can't count your revision refreshes or revisits from these advertisers looking at their own ads, right? You also know that your IP is recorded on every message you send or post, right?  So you knew that when you apparently sent TEN complaints from ONE IP address to Kristina Webber's host company regarding her page about how Partner failed to thrive in your care, you would be exposed as the sole complainant? Funny, your attorney told me that you claim to not even have email or Internet access yet your ads spam Craig's List and you use the email StateSideStables@yahoo.com (among others).

And what of your claims that you own an indoor arena or export horses to Germany?  Even your husband (if it was really him and not just you posting as him) said that wasn't true!  If it is true, why did "he" confirm it wasn't?   And why did you feel the need to delete all these claims shortly after confronted with reality?  Too bad you don't understand screen shots and the fact that it's damned near impossible to remove something from the Internet once it's posted.

It's a wonder that you have any time to actually accomplish anything in your life since you visit this website and refresh the pages upwards of 300 times per month.  Are you stalking me, Candi?  For someone who claims she just wants to be left alone, you sure spend an awful lot of time here!  Goodness, nearly 1,000 page views in February alone on a site of less than 10 pages!  You were here nearly every day!  And you spent an AWFUL lot of time reading Heather Fair's creative writing exercise journal online at diary-x.  Wouldn't a self-proclaimed web designer know that most hosts log statistics for each site visitor?  And you frequent Alaska Equine Rescue's pages too!  What do you think you will see?  Some secret content that didn't appear in your previous 900 page views?  Maybe you're at least learning something; perhaps from their account of the Chico case.

But why, Candi, do your "friends" continue to enable you?  A real friend would ask you to fess up and stop; to live a good life from here on out and be the positive role model you claim to be.  But your friends; they really take the cake.  Mrs. Terri Armistead has even gone so far as to desperately claim you were framed!  That would be pretty hard to do since the person that discovered the alleged plagiarism barely knew you when they found it (to this day she's never even met you in person, Candi).  And let's not forget, the original author of the article you allegedly plagiarized did not know anyone in Alaska until after Mrs. Fair discovered the alleged plagiarism.  Not to mention, the original author has proof that she published the article when you were still in high school, long before Mrs. Fair ever crossed paths with you!  So just how did anyone frame Candi, Mrs. Armistead?  Did someone somehow travel back in time and plant this article, supposedly written by Candi several years later, on Ms. Frazer's desk, on the Internet, and in various equestrian magazines nationwide?  Did someone somehow force Candi to read Ms. Frazer's work, chop it down to meet her space limitations, and change the horse's name so she could publish it as her own?  Did someone somehow pressure NHS to print it with Candi's byline?

And what about your husband's fellow VOLUNTEER FIREMEN who gave you HOURS of FREE LABOR to help you build your barn and sand and rope arenas in Butte? One of them actually TELEPHONED me and told me how you apparently ripped off his young son that came to help you set up in Spokane. Taking advantage of a young, aspiring, hard-working teen for your own promotion, sending him home penniless and jaded. Well that's just shameful. Then we heard you were making all sorts of claims about showing and even breeding poodles. I just received ANOTHER few of inquiries about you too. Yes I am sorry I have been incredibly busy. Thank you so much for the information. She is in the club Spokane Area Small Horse Association and she has been harrassing my family and trying to get my mother kicked out of the club because she is does not like her. So she had to drop the lawsuit, see she is saying that she won the lawsuit and that you had to pay her money for the harrassment. Which I never believed for a second. I was wondering though what happened with the horse she neglected and any other information you might find relevant so that I can bring it up at the next meeting and tell them exactly what she did and what she is lying about. I just do not want her doing this again and especially since she is trying to ruin our club I just want the situation handled. Next time you email me I'll get right back to sorry about that. Wow, that's news to me. The judge practically laughed your attorney out of court. Of course you wouldn't know since you had already skipped town without even filing discovery!

Now people, here's a tip for you. To check the status of a case in Alaska, just go to http://www.courtrecords.alaska.gov/pa/pa.urd/PAMW6500 and search the name of the person(s) involved. From such a search you can see that the case was dismissed by the petitioner. Now this won't tell you if there was a settlement out of court, but you can request a transcript of the hearing from the Palmer Courthouse, which I will certainly do now and post it here real soon so you can all see for yourselves how it was dismissed *with prejudice*, which means she can't re-open the case. Of course if you really want to believe her, you could just request proof from CAK that she received a settlement (or is trying to collect one), but of course that will never show up because it doesn't exist. Really, think about this for a minute: if I had lost any sort of case to CAK, don't you think part of that agreement would have required taking down this website? Afterall, CAK is alleging it's untrue. Of course she has a fatal flaw in her argument: I have PROOF for every last little bit of it, which is why she had NO case and this is still standing.

It's funny how people we never even met are still sending us unsolicited information about you. Or is it just sad?
